Visual Training to Stall Dementia
The "Active" Study, funded by the NIA (National Institute of Ageing) looked at computerized visual training as way to slow dementia onset with very positive results. Watching the video below gives a great demonstration of how the computerized visual training helps increase the speed with which the brain picks up and processes information. With just a ten hours of training over five weeks a only 10.5 percent of participants suffered cognitive decline versus 14 percent in the control group. Statistically, this reduced cognitive decline by 33-48% over 10 years depending on if they had a follow up classes or just the single 5 week training session.
This is a very positive result for vision therapy in the treatment of dementia.
